Caverns of Kroz II — Apogee's later edition of an episode from Scott Miller's original Kroz trilogy. You descend through caverns of coloured ASCII, whipping the slow, fast and very fast monsters that close in each turn, and spending gems to survive their hits. About Caverns of Kroz II
Scott Miller wrote Kroz in Turbo Pascal and sold it through the shareware model that became Apogee's: a free episode to try, the rest by mail order. Every level is a single screen of walls, traps, keys, lava and treasure. Monsters move only when you do, which makes each screen a small puzzle about timing and whip charges as much as a fight.

This is the original DOS release of Caverns of Kroz II, unmodified, running in DOSBox compiled to WebAssembly. The whole game is about 1 MB, so it starts within seconds on a normal connection. Sound and music play once you click into the game.
