About Monuments of Mars

Monuments of Mars was Todd Replogle's second Apogee game, after Caves of Thor. Each level is a single screen of platforms, doors, switches and traps. Your gun is less for fighting than for solving: shooting switches opens doors and turns obstacles off, and working out the order is the puzzle. Lives are unlimited and you can restart a level whenever you get stuck. Collecting the letters M, A, R and S in order earns bonus points. There are four episodes of twenty levels. Apogee's own records date it only to 1990 or 1991.

Tips for getting started

Before moving, look at what each switch is wired to. If you trap yourself, restart the level rather than wandering.
